This course is required for first-year license renewal.
What is ethics? What is the difference between law and ethics? What are the three normative moral theories that loan originators often use on a daily basis to solve ethical dilemmas? Is it possible to continue developing morally throughout our lives or do we either learn it as a child or lose that opportunity to learn? What does it mean when we say someone holds “professional status?” Can industry codes of ethics help loan originators solve complex ethical dilemmas? How has the recent mortgage industy meltdown effected your views on business ethics in mortgage lending? This course will provide loan originators with the foundational knowledge needed to go back out into the workplace and tackle their own ethical dilemmas on a day to day basis. Students will brainstorm about the answers to the above questions and work in small groups to practice applying ethical theory to situations in mortgage lending.
