NAMF offers a series of three classes on FHA Loans.  Each class is four hours long and all classes are approved for mortgage broker/LO continuing ed in Washington State

Originating FHA Loans
In this four hour course you will learn about the creation of FHA, insuring and endorsement, upfront MIP, the transition to risk-based pricing, HOCs, GNMA, becoming an FHA-approved lender, payment to non-approved brokers, the FHA Connection, temporary loan limits, FHA Secure, non-traditional credit, risk assessment, insurability v. saleability, FHA 203b, FHA 203h, FHA 203k, disclosures and forms, loan “killers,” CAIVRs, and an intro to FHA’s 4Cs: Character, Capacity, Collateral, Capital.

Underwriting FHA Loans
In this four hour course you will learn about FHA underwriting.  We will compare and contrast Total Scorecard v. manual underwriting, review non-traditional credit, and learn FHA’s Four Cs: Character, Capacity, Collateral, and Capital.  During the last hour of class we will underwrite FHA loans together and play FHA Underwriting “Jeopardy.”

FHA Appraisals
What role does the lender have in underwriting the FHA appraisal? This question and more will be answered during this four hour class on FHA Appraisals.  We will review the FHA Appraisal roster, assigning case numbers, and go over the valuation appraisal package: Subject, Contract, Neighborhood, Site, Improvements, Comps, and Reconciliation. During the last hour of class we will underwrite an FHA appraisal and play FHA Appraisal “Jeopardy.”
